On Easter Monday an ancient tradition relives in the main square of Fanano: the "scoccetto", a competition that consists in breaking the opponent's egg: first the two points and then the two rounder parts of the egg. The group of participants of all ages brings their own basket of painted hard-boiled eggs from home, colliding with "egg shots" and winning, with each shot, the broken eggs of the opponents. Always, but especially in the Easter period, after the period of Lent, the egg played an important role: it was food, a symbol of life, purity, fertility, as payment in kind for debts and a gift that was always welcome, especially if painted. with love.
