HIKING
At the end of the last century, the practice of hiking made Monte Cimone the most sought-after destination by the newly formed sections of the CAI who contributed to the construction of the first shelters that still exist.
In our area, which is part of the Frignano Natural Park, respect for the forest environment is the guarantee of a mountain that knows how to reconcile the preservation of the habitat with tourist settlements. The environment is therefore the greatest wealth of the area: living it, visiting it, understanding it arouses deep emotions, preserving it ensures its and our future.
For this reason, the possible eco-tourism activities to be practiced in the area are numerous: the dozens of paths marked by the Italian Alpine Club, along which you can meet shelters and bivouacs, allow the practice of hiking, orienteering and trekking for all. the levels.
Our voluntary ecological guides, "Sportello verde del Cimone", are available to accompany you and introduce you to our mountain with their experience. ideal for mountain bikes and horses, or in winter for cross-country skiing.
MOUNTAIN BIKE
It is one of the most active sports in our area thanks also to the facilities dedicated to this discipline that our localities have equipped themselves with.
There are permanent signposted circuits (also with GPS system), some of which create a connection with the other Municipalities located on the slopes of Monte Cimone, such as the challenging 45 km route of the Cimone Bike Park, where you can follow the paths indicated by the CAI, the “Ring of Cimone”.
Numerous other routes allow you to practice the disciplines of: Cross Country, All Mountain, Freeride, North Shore, Downhill, Dirt Jump.
MOTORCYCLE
There are several paths that wind through our entire territory. By motorbike you can better appreciate our locations by planning trips to discover breathtaking views and countries rich in culture.
TRIAL, a sport with a demanding environmental impact, is only allowed on the permanent path for trial bikes, recently created in Fanano.
GOLF
Halfway between the villages of Fanano and Sestola in Serraventata, is the Monte Cimone Golf Club.
Founded in 2003, the course winds on a mountain course with a total length of 2253 meters, consisting of 9 not particularly long holes, in a panoramic area where you can admire Monte Cimone and the mountains of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.
The undulating fairways and small, treacherous greens make the course challenging. The camp is open from April to November.
TENNIS
It is located in Sestola in the province of Modena. The complete address is Corso Umberto 1 - Sestola (Modena).
HORSE RIDING CENTERS
In Sestola, Fanano and Montecreto you will find well-equipped riding schools where riding courses and walks along our paths are organized.
SPORT FISHING
For the practice of this sport there are several lakes in the area, where competitions are organized in the summer.
CANOE
The streams that descend rapidly from the mountains and the relative calm of Torrente Leo, in the lowest part of the territory, favor the practice of this sport and a direct contact with the purity of the water.
PARAGLIDING hang glider
Downstream, there are landing areas connected to the take-off points located in the highest areas of the Fanano and Sestola area.
ROLLER
The Palaghiaccio di Fanano with an Olympic-sized rink, located in the center of the town, performs ice skating activities in the winter while it becomes Palaroller for enthusiasts in the summer.
TRADITIONAL SPORT
“E’ Ruzlun ”(throwing the tumbler) is a game of common origins that is always present in the folkloristic events of the town, a pastime that has become a popular sport in various Italian regions and has maintained a continuity that finds its raison d'etre in the simple and traditionalist character of the mountain dweller.
The tumbler is a wooden disc that varies in weight according to the categories and is launched with a cord with the relative spool that is wound on the outer edge of the disc.
This sport is practiced on special tracks called treppi which can be roads or rural terrain, along the route a starting point and an arrival point delimited with poles are set.
The competition is won by the competitor who, with the same number of throws with the opponent, pushes the tool farther from the finish line.
In Emilia, the launch of the tumbler was probably spread by shepherds, it is said that, as a pastime, during the hours of rest they enjoyed rolling the cheeses they produced along meadows and slopes.
Over time the cheese is replaced by the wooden disc.

In each location there are numerous sports facilities and structures.
AFananoyou can find: an outdoor heated swimming pool with one of the most modern purification systems and a suggestive solarium surrounded by greenery; 3 football fields, two in the Fighting Sports Center and one in Trentino; a Tennis Center affiliated with CONI with 3 tennis courts, one of which is covered and heated; 8 bowls courts; 1 multipurpose gym, equipped for volleyball, basketball, soccer and martial arts; treppi equipped for tumbling and tumbling shooting (traditional sport).
ASestolayou will find: an indoor swimming pool, heated in winter, of Olympic size, inside which there is a small wellness center with gym, in summer the adjacent outdoor swimming pool is also equipped; a football stadium also used by the retreats of the Serie A and B teams, various football and soccer fields; a tennis center affiliated with CONI with about 20 uncovered and 1 covered courts; 2 municipal tennis courts; a sports hall for the practice of basketball and volleyball; a bowler; a multipurpose municipal gym; a Minigolf.

In Sestola you will find the swimming pool with heated indoor pool, sauna, turkish bath, whirlpool. Group and individual swimming lessons, water aerobics, gentle gymnastics.
ADVENTURE PARK

The parks are inspired by the nature that surrounds them and of which they are part, living them fully you will discover that the possibilities for fun are many: challenging the heights in the paths suspended in the trees in complete safety with ropes and wooden bridges, living a particular adventure in board two-seater sleds on rails (only at Lake Ninfa), jump on trampolines and descend on rubber dinghies and many other games for young and old. Rental of mini and big quads to run on a prepared track.
FLORA AND FAUNA
the botanical environment of the District includes low-altitude areas and peaks up to over 2000 meters and for this reason it has different types of vegetation: oak, pine, beech, cow and pastures. The ridge meadows and blueberry heaths are colored by dozens of protected floral species: anemones, lilies, columbines, gentians and rhododendron shrubs which are particularly numerous on the north wall of the Open Book, close to high altitude lakes. “Drosera Rotundifolia”, a small insectivorous plant particularly rare in the Apennines.
Of particular interest isthe Esperia Alpine Botanical Garden, open from June to September, which is located in Passo del Lupo, Sestola, in the Frignano Park which, for years, has been dedicated to the protection of native flora and to the disclosure to tourists of the world of botany.
FAMILY
Particular attention is paid to children for their entertainment.
Events dedicated to children are held such as animated readings of fairy tales through the villages of our countries, artistic workshops of various genres, shows and entertainment games also organized in the suggestive Children's Parks of each location.
